Wang Kang Attends the 47th Annual Meeting of SGATAR and Visits the Inland Revenue Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

From November 27 through 30, Wang Kang, deputy administrator of the State Administration of Taxation (SAT) headed a Chinese tax delegation to the 47th annual meeting of the Study Group on Asian Tax Administration and Research (SGATAR) in Boracay in the Philippines.

At this annual meeting, attendees discussed the progress of the SGATAR reform and its future development plan, how tax authorities adapt to international taxation in the digital era, as well as human resources management by tax authorities. Wang Kang delivered a keynote speech on China's tax reform, which is entitled "Work together to Seek Development through Reforms", with a focus on the progress and achievements of the ongoing VAT pilot program in China, which was widely acclaimed by the participants. During the meeting, Wang Kang had bilateral conversations with officials from tax authorities of New Zealand, Australia and Mongolia on tax conventions and capability building.

Founded in 1971, SGATAR is the only official tax organization in Asia and Oceania. It is now comprised of 17 members, with the SAT joining in 1996. With approval from the State Council and entrustment from Wang Jun, administrator of the SAT, Wang Kang announced at the meeting that China will host the 48th annual meeting of SGATAR in 2018.

After the meeting, Wang Kang led the delegation to the Inland Revenue Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The two sides exchanged ideas on relevant issues. In addition, Wang Kong had a seminar on Taxation Service "Going Global" with a selection of Chinese enterprises in Hong Kong.
