In 2011, the tax authorities conscientiously implemented a series of major decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, actively implemented the structural tax reduction policy, strived to improve the tax service, and strengthened the tax collection and administration in accordance with the law, with the tax revenue across the country reaching a total amount of RMB 9572.9 billion (RMB 8652.4 billion after deduction of the export rebates, excluding tariff, tonnage dues, tax on the use of arable land and deed tax) . Among which, the tax revenue directly collected by tax authorities achieved RMB 8212.2 billion with an increase of 22.8%, RMB 1526 billion, compared with 2010; the import tax revenue withheld by the customs reached RMB 1360.7 billion with an increase of 29.2%, RMB 307.9 billion, compared with 2010. The growth of tax revenue gradually slowed down each quarter as the economy developed. Export rebates across the country totaled RMB 920.5 billion with an increase of 25.6%, RMB 187.6 billion, compared with 2010. Furthermore, in terms of such other revenue as social security funds, educational surtax and construction fee for cultural undertakings, the local tax authorities collected an amount of RMB 1565.2 billion, with an increase of 39%, RMB 439.5 billion.
In terms of the tax categories, domestic value added tax, domestic consumption tax and business tax respectively increased by 13.6%, 15.1% and 22.6%, and enterprise income tax increased by 34.7%. In terms of regional distribution, the tax revenue of the eastern, central and western region respectively increased by 21.7%, 27.9% and 28.5%.
