Average daily sales revenue of consumer-related industries nationwide increased by 13.7% throughout the 2026 Spring Festival holiday against last year, according to VAT invoice data released by the State Taxation Administration.
During the 9-day holiday, the consumer market was booming with remarkable highlights in sectors of consumer goods, tourism, catering and restaurant services, and retailing.
Intelligent and green products have become much more prominent. Daily household appliances, including floor-sweeping robots and projection TVs, saw their sales revenue increase by 19% year-on-year. Better charging infrastructure also fueled green travel, with revenue from EV charging services soaring 163.9%.
The cultural tourism market was thriving with strong consumption in ice-snow sectors in northern China and tourism in Hainan. The tourism-related services increased their sales by 39.6% year-on-year. In major ice-snow economic regions like Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, and Xinjiang, the revenue grew by 62.4% year-on-year. Tourist revenue rose by 70.9% year-on-year in Hainan's scenic spot services. Digital cultural services and cultural and artistic performance venues generated revenues by 38.8% and 136.6% year-on-year, respectively.
The catering and restaurant sector heated up during the long holiday. Restaurants earned more by 31.2% year-on-year, of which dining services rose by 26.5% and snack services by 42.1% respectively. Department store retailing revenue increased by 39.3% year-on-year, and online retailing grew by 10.4% on a high base against the same period of the previous year.
